TAMPA, FL, July, 2012 – Internet marketing agency, Bayshore Solutions, is promoting a healthier workplace through several wellness initiatives headed by Bayshore’s internal Wellness Committee. The goal in achieving a healthier workplace is to decrease employee sick time, which increases agency utilization as well as enhances career satisfaction.

In early March, Bayshore Solutions sponsored employees who wanted to participate in the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic. Several Team Bayshore members ran the 5K, 15K and even half marathon. For the second year in a row, Bayshore Solutions participated in the 30th Annual Corporate SportsFest on St. Pete Beach where employees competed against other local companies while team building at the beach.

In April, a “Step up” challenge took place where employees competed on how many times they used the stairs in lieu of the elevators - keep in mind, Bayshore Solutions is on the 7th floor. Another contest was a “Walkabout” challenge where pedometers were provided to employees who compete for the title weekly top pace-setter over the 4 week ‘race’.

Exercise balls have been purchased at Bayshore Solutions to use as chairs in the office. Sitting on a ball for a limited time at one’s workstation increases core strength and stability and helps maintain good posture.

Ongoing initiatives throughout the year by the Wellness Committee include providing Emergen-C Vitamin C Supplements, weekly emails featuring nutrition, events and articles, Kinect fitness challenges, outdoor volleyball and kickball games, nutrition facts/calories at employee lunches and breakfasts.  The company also invites regular massage therapy which helps reduce stress and tension for all participating employees. A Wellness Wagon and Wellness Jar are filled with healthy snacks for employees to reach for if they need a boost during the day. Healthy snacks improve focus, increase productivity and help to avoid packing on the pounds.

Meryl Heidenreich, digital marketing Account Manager at Bayshore Solutions participates in the committee to further health and wellness initiatives. She comments, “When you work as hard as we do in an office place setting, there is a real danger that you’ll look at the clock and realize nine hours have gone by and you’ve barely stretched your legs, and only put vending machine snacks in your body. The wellness programs we’ve come up with are fun ways to improve both well-being and workplace satisfaction.”
