Twitter for Market Research- Are you on Twitter?

I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz lately. With everyone from Ashton Kutcher to Oprah and CNN journalists, it seems like the “in” thing these days. In fact, my mom who doesn’t even own a computer asked me yesterday if I had a Twitter. But, you may be wondering what benefit Twitter could have for your business .Here’s one important way that you could utilize Twitter for more than posting what you ate for breakfast.
Today, it is the easiest way to connect with your customers. In past years, you would have spent thousands of dollars with market research firms to learn about your customers. But today, you can post a Tweet and within minutes, you could have responses from your loyal customers.
For the example below, let’s call your business Company ABC and say you sell product X.
4 Great Questions to Twitter
1. What makes you keep buying product X?
2. What makes product X better than its competitor product Z?
3. What can we do to make product X better?
4. Have you ever recommended product X to a friend?
Why pay an expensive market research company for data you could collect yourself for free? I recommend that you quickly grab your company’s name on Twitter before someone else “squats” on it. (Yes, it has happened to major companies like Nike and Coca Cola.) Start connecting with your consumers and learning what makes them happy. But keep in mind that you will need a good social media strategy for your Twitter account before you begin tweeting out random messages.
Happy Twittering!
