Facebook Fan Pages

Creating a successful Facebook fan page can seem daunting. But if you know the facts and have a plan, your fan page can be a winner.
First, know the primary goal of your page. Brand awareness? Sales? Once you know your main goal, make sure you target the right demographic and know that not all brands can expect huge followings on Facebook.

Be sure to optimize your Facebook presence by creating the perfect profile picture (200px wide, but allow for a 12px border around crucial info) and displaying different default landing pages for fans and non-fans.

Don’t forget to enhance your page with applications, including static FBML, which allows you to create customizable boxes and tabs. Facebook now let’s us customize our pages, take advantage of it and do it often! Post regularly and mix it up with status updates, links, notes, photos, videos, etc. and make sure you engage your fans by asking questions, posting polls, etc. Fan interaction is key and your interaction with fans is also very important. So answer fan’s questions and comment on fan posts.

If you want more fans, try creating a contest or promotion that includes participation and promote, promote, promote! You can promote your fan page on your website, in your ads, in your email signature, etc.
