The Florida Aquarium is a non-profit organization that showcases the aquatic animals and ecosystems of Florida and around the world. As one of the best aquariums in the country and a premier family destination, the Tampa based aquarium puts on conservation, research and educational programs to help the community and the environment. The Florida Aquarium came to Bayshore Solutions in need of a new website design, navigation, layout and CMS. The aquarium had recently held a design contest with University of South Florida that provided some basic design elements they wished to incorporate in their website. This design needed extension and enhancement with functionality to create a website accessible from both desktop and mobile devices, that could be updated and managed easily and that could handle hundreds of articles photos, video, blogs, events, calendar listings and newsletters. Bayshore Solutions integrated the design elements and feel from the USF class with advanced functionality and user interface features to create a custom website design aligned with web best practices to deliver a powerful marketing website for The Florida Aquarium. Bayshore Solutions developed interactive functionality and content managed time savers in the new Florida Aquarium website. On the homepage, a custom image rotation highlights various aspects of the aquarium. An easy-to-use drop down navigation allows quick access to all pages on the site. For instant and reliable search results, a Keyoti search module facilitates simple website search queries. Integration of Bayshore Solutions’ custom WebModules web content management system allows easy and real-time updates of content and images on the new site. An added feature is a content managed logo and background, giving the Florida Aquarium flexibility to edit for seasonal changes. “We are absolutely thrilled with our new website” said Scott Rose, The Florida Aquarium’s Vice President of Marketing & Sales. “The website clearly reflects The Florida Aquarium’s mission and brand while providing a user friendly interface to help our guests navigate through our site and find the information they need. Bayshore Solutions did a tremendous job and with the help of the USF design students, The Florida Aquarium’s website is now an extremely efficient tool for our guests, staff and volunteers.
