About Charity Polo Classic
When advertising executive and professional polo player, Chris Gannon, and Children’s Cancer Center board member, Patrick Moraites, got together in late 2011 they wanted to create a charity event that was unlike any other in the Tampa Bay area.
Thus, they decided to combine their love of philanthropy and polo to create the Charity Polo Classic.
The charity aims to benefit different charities in the Tampa Bay area every year. Proceeds from this year’s 4th Annual Charity Polo Classic, set to be held on March 21st, 2015, in Lakeland, Florida will benefit the Children’s Cancer Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Helping Hands.
The Charity Polo Classic features traditional polo activities, including national polo stars playing in the match, the divot stomp, and live and silent auctions to give it a Tampa Bay flair. National television celebrity guests will participate and fine restaurant cuisine from the Tampa area will be among the event attractions.
Charity Polo Classic partnered with Bayshore Solutions to redesign their Charity Polo Classic website. They needed to have a first-class web experience for site visitors regardless of what size screen on which they view the website. Event promotion needs required an expedited approach to make the website live and fully functional in short order.
The new website features a responsive design enabling a pleasant visitor experience when accessed from all devices. Visual imagery promoting the style and fun of the Charity Polo Classic as well as the serious purpose and support the event focuses on are showcased throughout the website. A clean layout and clear access to event information allow the website to encourage ticket purchases and better spread awareness about the charities it supports.
The Bayshore Solutions team delivered the website from concept to go-live in just 28 days. A WordPress responsive website theme was leveraged as the base platform for the website. Ease of styling updates and expeditious content migration for historic information, including photo galleries, was facilitated through this approach. A feature of the new website is the ability for event participants to contribute their own event pictures to the website’s gallery.
