The Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association Insurance Agency (AOPAIA) is the world’s largest general aviation aircraft insurance agency. AOPAIA is a joint venture between AON Insurance Company and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), a non-profit organization based in Frederick, Maryland.
 

Challenge

AOPAIA contracted Bayshore Solutions to evaluate, plan, and build web-based GUI interfaces as well as integrate a 4GL legacy application. The purpose for the integration was to allow clients to submit information online and receive insurance quotes.

Solution

Bayshore Solutions created a solution that used a collection of technologies, including Java, Oracle 8iAS, Oracle 8i database, and Oracle’s transparent gateway. The core components of this included:
 

  • Heavy database integration with numerous legacy and proprietary systems
  • Development of online quoting system and information on Oracle platform
  • Credit card and electronic check capabilities through VeriSign e-commerce platform
  • Use of functionality
  • Separate sub-sites for broad-based knowledge workers
