About The Florida Aquarium

The Florida Aquarium is a non-profit organization that showcases the aquatic animals and ecosystems of Florida and around the world. As one of the best aquariums in the country and a premier family destination, the Tampa based aquarium puts on conservation, research and educational programs to help the community and the environment.



The Florida Aquarium came to Bayshore Solutions in need of a new website design, navigation, layout and CMS. The aquarium had recently held a design contest with University of South Florida that provided some basic design elements they wished to incorporate in their website. This design needed extension and enhancement with functionality to create a website accessible from both desktop and mobile devices, that could be updated and managed easily and that could handle hundreds of articles photos, video, blogs, events, calendar listings and newsletters.


Bayshore Solutions integrated the design elements and feel from the USF class with advanced functionality and user interface features to create a custom website design aligned with web best practices to deliver a powerful marketing website for The Florida Aquarium.

Bayshore Solutions developed interactive functionality and content managed time savers in the new Florida Aquarium website. On the homepage, a custom image rotation highlights various aspects of the aquarium. An easy-to-use drop down navigation allows quick access to all pages on the site. For instant and reliable search results, a Keyoti search module facilitates simple website search queries. Integration of Bayshore Solutions’ custom WebModules web content management system allows easy and real-time updates of content and images on the new site. An added feature is a content managed logo and background, giving the Florida Aquarium flexibility to edit for seasonal changes.

Results won the 2011 Interactive Media Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Non-Profit category.

Horizon Interactive Award - Bronze Award - Florida Aquarium Bayshore Solutions and The Florida Aquarium won a Horizon Interactive Award for their website in the Activism/Non-Profit category.
2012 Summit MEA The Florida Aquarium was awarded a 2012 Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award for its outstanding web results.
WebAward 2012 - The Florida Aquarium Bayshore Solutions and The Florida Aquarium were honored with a 2012 WebAward for outstanding website development.
Gold Award - The Florida Aquarium - MarCom Awards The Florida Aquarium and Bayshore Solutions won a 2012 Gold MarCom Award in the non-profit category for its creative website design.
 Summit Emerging Leader Award - The Florida Aquarium - Bayshore Solutions The 2012 Summit Emerging Media Awards recognized Bayshore Solutions and the Florida Aquarium for their presence and performance in the non-profit category.

The Communicator Awards - Mobile Website & Nonprofit Website Wins The 2013 Communicator Awards honored The Florida Aquarium's website with a Silver Distinction in the nonprofit category and a Silver Distinction for their mobile website design.
